Barber Course

A 1500-hour barber course covers all aspects of barbering, from basic techniques to advanced skills.

Students will gain hands-on experience working with real clients in a supervised setting.

Upon completion, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to become licensed barbers and launch a successful career in the industry.

Iowa Barber License

  • Complete a 2,100-hour barbering program from a licensed school or apprentice under a licensed barber for 4,000 hours.

  • Pass both written and practical exams administered by the Iowa Board of Barbering.

  • Submit a completed application, including proof of education and exam results, and pay the required fees to the Iowa Board of Barbering.

Barber Instructor 500 Hours

  • Complete a barber instructor program that typically requires at least 500 hours of education and training in teaching techniques, classroom management, and other related topics.

  • Pass a written exam that tests knowledge of barbering and teaching methods.

  • Submit a completed application, including proof of education and exam results, and pay the required fees to the state licensing board.

Barber Instructor 1000 Hours

  • Complete a barber instructor program that requires 1000 hours of education and training in teaching techniques, classroom management, and other related topics.

  • Pass a written exam that tests knowledge of barbering and teaching methods.

  • Submit a completed application, including proof of education and exam results, and pay the required fees to the state licensing board.

Crossover Course 500 Hours

  • Complete a Crossover Course program that requires 500 hours of education and training in a new field or specialty, building upon previous knowledge and experience.

  • Pass any required written and practical exams to demonstrate competency in the new field or specialty.

  • Submit a completed application, including proof of previous education and licensure, and pay the required fees to the state licensing board.
